Banning an IP that try's admin login more than 5 times

I am positive it can be done with Sentinel, but has anyone tried it before? I want to make sure the admin login is secure. If they try it 5 times in a row, I want their IP banned. I am not playing around with them anymore since my site got hacked, shut down, reset, and am now getting it back in order again.

What I mean by Sentinel, is that I should be able to use the IP blocker for the actual blocking of the IP address in sentinel.

Make sure you set all the blockers. Just having sentinel isn't enough and if your site is capable of using htaccess then you can turn that on too. I suggest reading the Sentinel Users Guide It has tons of good info.

What is the htaccses for ? I want to know because, I had to delete mine because my server would not allow it, because it has a dot in front of its name.
