Nuke 7.9 Patched Strips My Images?

Hope this is the right topic forum...

Just upgraded from 7.8 patched to 7.9 patched using the files I d/l from this board.

I had several stories on the front page that had images inserted into them. Now they are gone and apparently no reference to them in the file. I don't see a way to put an image into in the stories or news. The "edit html" allows one to insert the reference, and the image then shows up in the preview (the (*first* time you preview it), after which the code (and of course the image) is stripped.

This is *very* annoying as the pics catch a lot of interest for people to come back to the page and read the content.

What happened! Is there a way to insert images into stories in 7.9 other than putting an image to every single story as a "topic" image, which IMO is a stupid way to do it?

This is just part of Why 7.7 - 7.9 are Use At Your Own Risk IF you know the HTML code you can click HTML on the input screen and manully enter the code. Other then that there is not any other way.

HTML Gets Stripped

Thats just it - I input the html in the html screen and it strips it!

Anyone else deal with this problem before and got a work around?

Here is a post on NukeCops that will answer your question and also proves newer isn't always better.
http://nukecops.com/postt50597.html

There are a few fixes out there that I am not displaying for serveral reasons. 1 they all break other parts of the site and 2 all make a site even more vulnerable then what 7.7 - 7.9 already are.

To clarify for those who can't understand my post

Since I just got a rather snippy message from someone who told me to listen and then do what I already said I did (you know who you are - please read messages in full before you snark on people).... here's the problem in point form. Any help would be appreciated!

1. I was running 7.8 patched.
2. ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGES have been made to the code or system that came with 7.8 patched, OR 7.9 patched.
3. On a news item and a a content story, I had inserted a graphic inserted.
4. I upgraded to 7.9 patched.
5. Graphic now gone! The code referencing the graphic is gone.
6. Inputting the html tag in the html window shows the graphic in the "preview" screen - but it is stripped after the first preview.
7. To reiterate #6 - I know how to input html tags. As I said, I did it and the tags referencing the images are stripped! Gone. Not there any more.
7. The page is question is the front page at www.nightcrossings.com. There, three out of four of the stories on the home page had pix embedded - one of "the special dead" movie, one of an actor, and one of Aleister Crowley.
8. An *identical* problem is on the alpha website at www.moviesight.net

Any help with this problem? Or if there is no apparent solution... how can I revert all hte way back to 7.6 without losing my databases?

Thanks, all.

Thanks!

I'm checking your reference out, thanks so much!

I would provide you the link to the rollback script if the site were up. But right now nukescript.net is down. I'll keep checking.

Thanks very much for the help!

Following the links you gave me, I have solved the problem. On the site that is still in development I removed 7.9 patched and am installing 7.8 nuke patched core version 3.1 from chatserve, which I hope will solve the issues.

For the other site which is running with users, it's not practical for me to downgrade since there is no script to do so available and I'm not sophisticated enough to do it otherwise... however, I used the workaround solution in the link you provided. The security issues are not a problem for me, as only a very small handful of trusted people will be inputing stories, etc. so html nasties shouldn't be a reasonable possibility. For those who have this problem, I recommend checking out the following links:

http://nukecops.com/postt50597.html (as already pointed out above)
http://nukecops.com/postt50767.html
http://nukecops.com/postt50535.html

and then read chapter 16.1 on PHP-Nuke: Management and Programming on the same site.

If I knew what I was doing, the first link would have fixed my prob - but I'm not an experienced programmer, so I looked up everything... measure twice, cut once, as the good carpenter says...

Thanks again for your help!
