NCO and sentinel
ok so, after my 7.8 phpnuke site was hacked last night - my team and i have been searching for a more security option.
okay so i have installed with no hiccups at all - im wanting to update nuke sentinel. can i just do this with the nuke sentinel update you have in the downloads section.
also - im going to try this anyway but can i still import my 7.8
downloads, forums and members to my new nco 7.6 install if not this really isnt an option for us

also as they caused complete havak on my site - are there any security steps/mods/patches i can take/install - that are not included with the nco ultra 7.6 release?
Here is some starting info for ya... First and foremost you will want to make sure that your site is patched to 3.1.... The needed files are in the download section.. As for sentinal you are most likely at version 2.2 if you have not added the patches. The files are also available here on the website. They are very easy to do and will bring your site up to date with all known exploits. You will then want to patch bb to nuke to current level which is also available on this website.. I have found running my website that there are certain applications and modules I will not use. Not that they are not safe I just do not want to temp fate. I do not use journal do not allow picture uploads either through forums or as avatars. And I closely monitor my server logs. Sentinel will also monitor ips and track them which will allow you to keep an even closer eye on who views your site. I am sorry to hear about the hack but you can feel a bit safer with sentinel running and The Nco ultra. Best of Luck
