another question if i may
when my users comment - it allows for a "reply to comment" option
is there nayway of disabling this as it is very messy and rather annoying

You can disable the comments in preferences. But you can not disable replies once a comment has been made.
ahh, it wasnt the comment i wanted to disable - hut the reply to option
