I am completely new to nuke. I would like to setup center blocks that are informational. Like the blocks you have , they say "posted by, on this date"
how do I set this up? Also, the news module is set as the home page, should this be changed?

The center blocks you refer to are the news module. No you do not have to leave the news module se to home.
thanks. how can I get rid of the "put in home" deal? I dont really want any of the listed modules "put in home"
I am not sure how to get the information into a block. is there any manuals on this
when I submi news and ok the entry (admin) i click news to read it and there is nothing

You must have a module in home otherwise nothing will display in the center of your site. You can not have just blocks. Blocks only display the information the modules contain. Yes that is over simplifying it but I think you get the idea.
