Sentinal Blocking members for non IP address

I just updated to 2.5 and quite a few members are getting blocked by sentinel for not having a valid IP address. Is this a known bug yet?

Currently I have Sentinel disabled so that they can access but I do not want to leave it like this.

EDIT: I have 2 sites and both are doing the same thing.

What level of security do you have your Proxy setting in your NukeSentinel Adminstration settings?

Light on one and OFF on the other website.

It seems to me that my AOL users are having the issue. When they use IE instead of AOL, they can get on.

You have to use IE instead of AOL, when you use IE it pulls the true ip you are on. When you use AOL the ip is proxied which it doesnt give you the true ip. This is not a bug NukeSentinel is designed to do this. I would suggest that you advise all of your members to use IE or another browser and NOT AOL.

Then why is this now an issue with 2.5 and never with any version of 2.4xx?

I shouldn't have to tell my AOL users that they are out of luck. Also any AOL visitors would be completely blocked and they would know nothing. That is not the way a website should run.

I know that AOL is the worst thing since the square wheel but it is still in use.

The invalid ip check was apart of NukeSentinel 2.4.2 pl9, so the updated version must have new coding that is blocking the ip from accessing the site. You can possibly comment out this feature I will have to look into it more and I will let you know.

Did you do the ip2country imports?

Check out this POST on Ravens site

I imported all of US and Canada into the IP2C and called a friend of mine to try the website out.

Still getting blocked.

Ok thank you SevenOfNine for your help. Apparently, we have to import the ENTIRE IP2C into the database. That is alot of wasted database use imho

Yes we must and your welcome Smile
