fsockopen & Warning: parse_url

I'm running php nuke 7.6 patched to 3.3, I just recently installed it and i'm getting an error i'm not sure about:

Warning: parse_url(http:///bcnuke/modules.php?name=Your_Account): Unable to parse url html/bcnuke/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 461

Warning: fsockopen(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known in html/bcnuke/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 462

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to :80 in html/bcnuke/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 462

Now in my Your_Account/index.php I have this

Line 461 $rdf = parse_url($url);
Line 462 $fp = fsockopen($rdf['host'], 80, $errno, $errstr, 15);

the rest of the site is fine with no errors, this error appears in my "headlines" section, my site is here http://www.bandcklan.com/bcnuke If anyone has some ideas on how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it

I noticed (http:///bcnuke/modules.php?name=Your_Account): as a bad url , not sure why its reading the url like that, can sub-domains be used with php nuke? or is it because I dont have the index.php at the end of the url in the admin/preferences section ? , also where would I change the current url to the new correct url to fix this problem any idea?

Also in my config.php I had http://www.bandcklan.com/bcnuke should I have put index.php on the end of that url or is it to late would I have to start over and reinstall php nuke again?

Sorry for all the questions first time nuke user here

Thank you in advance

Yo!

The http:/// is the first problem I see.....just need 2 // 's

Start from there.....You've entered a bad url somewhere, probably in your admin/preferences.....go there first and check it out....

Cool

I just clicked around your site bro, I think you and I can figure this out...it looks like its working good, where or what do you click on to get the error?

sub-domains are not a problem....and no you shouldn't need the index.php on the end....

I see no error, was it fixed?

OK

I think I'm up to speed with ya now bro......

The site is looking good, I think you've misunderstood how to use "My Headlines".......in your account....

Your headlines are fed through your backend.php script....its an RSS type feed.....

Here's yours. http://www.bandcklan.com/bcnuke/backend.php

Put that in to see your feeds.....

Am I right with what the problem is so far?

When I click on the "your account" module is when I get this error, I checked the config.php and the admin/preferences and both url's only have 2 //'s , for some reason it seems to be blocking out the www.bandcklan.com part of the url , I'm not sure where else to look for mistyped url's if indeed there are anymore places.

Ahh.. yes I see what you mean, when I click on the "headlines from" in the "your account" module it shows http:/// , so I think we're onto something, my next question is where do i put that backend.php url to activate my headlines? where do I put the http://www.bandcklan.com/bcnuke/backend.php to see my feeds?? in my web browser it comes up with nothing

And thank you very much for taking the time and effort to help a newbie like me, it's much appreciated Smile

EDIT:
Ok I picked a random site from one of the options for "my headlines" and the error went away, so you are correct with the problem, I guess my last question still remains, where and what do i do with that backend.php url? Wink

When I click on any RSS feed from any site I get a messge:

"Internet Explorer cannot display this feed
Internet Explorer does not support feeds with DTDs.

Could this be an issue with the new Internet Explorer 7, which I am using?

No Problem

I'm still new too bro....But your site is working good from what I can tell....I should login to it though to be sure...

RSS feeds are cool....Go here to get more about them Yahoo Rss

Click on the orange rss button to get the feeds url. Put that url in your headline box, or any rss url in to get the news feeds fed to your account....

That make sense?

your news feed is that backend.php url I gave you. You can feed your sites news using that . Firefox will read rss feeds. If you use Yahoo as your computer browsers homepage you can feed your news to it also.

The SELECT A WEB SITE drop down box you can configure to read other feeds pertaining to your site. I believe your site is a Gaming Site, so Google up other Gaming site RSS feeds and add them there....Do that in your Admin/Blocks section where you add a new block.

you will see rss/rdf file url there. You can put one in there and create a block on the mainpage that reads that sites rss. or go to SETUP and add them there. That feeds the Your Account Headlines Drop down box.

Obviously someone put http:/// into it already for some reason.

RSS feeds are cool. Lottsa ways you can use them. All are pretty safe, as long as you dont try to make a buck from them......

Play around, do some Googling....RSS will be around for a long time..

And now you have your own.

NukeCode has a rss forum feed at the bottom of his site. Put that into your account My headlines and see the latest forum topics.

Cool stuff to play around with.

Mike, Thank you very much for taking the time to help me out, I appreciate it very much, I've been playing around with the RSS feeds and they are cool, I'll have to figure out why "my headlines" dont save, when I click a headline those errors go away and show me feeds, but if I leave the "your account" section the come back to them, the errors are back ...lol Rolling Eyes

Again, thank you sooo much for your help Very Happy

No Prob

Glad to help.....Like I said , play with it, you'll get better at it.

Cool
