Changed Theme <--> Site Disappeared

I am currently running PHP Nuke 7.9 and every theme that I have put on the site, was sure that they were able to work with 7.9.

When I changed my theme, the whole site disappeared except for the Ad Hosting Banner at the very top of the page *FOUND HERE*.

That is supposed to be my main portal page, but it's pure white with just the Hosting Ad Banner at the very top.

Is there anyway to change the theme without accessing the Administration Panel on the Board?

Or maybe Deleting the Theme and hopefully the board becomes visable again?

Maybe there is something missing in the theme package?

I would appreciate any help on this subject.

Yo!

Yeah bro...after you have uploaded your theme, login to your user account on the website (not the admin).....go into Your Account, pick the theme you just uploaded, and see how it works......

If it doesn't work, delete that sucker (if you couldnt fix it) and Your Account will go back to the theme that you had selected in Preferences of the Admin section....

Wink

Well, I can't very well get into anywhere right now with the theme the way it is because I changed it in the Administration Area first, so I can't see anything else to be able to change the theme.

Oh

Sorry, that was to test a new a theme...

I believe your going to have to get into the database now, and change the theme there....Mysql....

Hopefully one of the admins shows up here and can talk you through it.....

Yeah, I'm going to keep that tip though for future tests before I decide to change it from the Admin Preferences on the PHP Nuke Portal Page

It sounds like you uploaded the wrong thing.

Generally a theme comes packed in such a way that there is a folder called "themes" inside the main folder if so Delete whatever you uploaded and only upload the (themes) folder to root (where the config.php file lives). Don't worry if your FTP client asks if you want to overwrite this folder (SAY YES or OK).

Also make sure there isn't a folder inside the main folder with the same name. If there is only upload the second folder. In this case you will OPEN the themes folder in your FTP and upload it directly to the themes folder.

As Mike said always test a new theme with a user account before activating it globally (through the admin panel). This way should something go wrong all you have to do is delete the new theme and try again.

Should that not work. You'll need to reset the theme manually.

Open phpmyadmin and find the nuke_config table

Click Browse (the first icon right next to the table name)

Click Edit (the icon that looks like a pencil)

Find the field called "Default_Theme"

Replace whatever is there with a different working theme name such as "DeepBlue" remember this is case sensitive, so make sure you type the name exactly as it appears in your themes folder or it won't work.

Click OK or Go

Ok, I didn't bother doing the first reply you posted, cause that didn't seem to be exactly what I was looking for, but the second reply was.

That was exactly what I was looking for. To change the default theme back to the theme that you get when you first install PHP Nuke.

It did work as well. So I am going to work on your first reply about installing the themes and delete all the folders and blocks that I have uploaded with my FTP Program and then work on getting them back in there appropriately.

I thank you very much for the help, the board is back up and visible now.

Maybe you could place that somewhere so people can see it all the time incase they end up doing something stupid like I did. That way they can change the default theme manually without having to access the Administration Panel, unless you already do have that somewhere and I just didn't find it anywhere.

Now I just have to get my board re-installed, stupid cannot connect to Database Error, or whatever other errors I get.

At least you got the site back.....done that a coupla times myself, just figured its probably one way it got its name Nuke.......

Very Happy

The MYSQL I can do, but to talk someone through it would have took too long....

High 5s to Sevens!

Wink
