Are you typing the password in exactly as you made it. They are case sensitive and will only allow you to login if you type it exactly.

i changed the pw a few month ago. after that i didn't login for some time. cannot login now. tried all possible ways.

is there any way to recover the pw?

All of this is assuming you have Cpanel as your control panel.

1) Login to Cpanel and then find your MySQL Databases button and click on it.
2) Go to the bottom of the page and click on PHPmy Admin link.
3) Click on Databases under the localhost section and choose your database.
4) This will bring up your database tables for that database you are looking for you _admin table. Once you find it put a check mark in the box and click the first button on your right. If you put your mouse over it then it should say Browse.
5) Find the password field and highlight the value it has for the field and click backspace to delete that value.
6) Put your new password in the value field and then look for the function option which is to the left of the value field. Click on the drop down box and find MD5 as the function. Then click go and it should save your new password as MD5 and you should then be able to login.

there are 103 tables. could not locate "you _admin" table. these are the tables there:

nuke_authors

My bad I had my heads in the clouds and was thinking of a different CMS the nuke_authors table is the one you are looking for. All of the rest of the directions are the same. My apologizes for the mix up.

thanks database
i got it now. but before i try i want to confirm a couple of my doubts from u. am not sure the back space and the md5 u r talking about. and the pw there is encrypted one. will it work if i change the pw there unencrypted?

The backspace or hitting the backspace button on your keyboard is only going to clear the password field that has been encrypted. When you put in the new password and select the MD5 as function and click Go that is only going to encrypt the new password. You dont want to leave your password non-encrypted. Yes it will work if you leave the password field unencrypted but that is a really big security risk. I would suggest you encrypt your password.

sorry had to ask u more

when i press the backspace button in my keyboard, it takes me to the previous page. seems it's not deleting the existing pw.

the function field in the left, am not sure where it is.

Your welcome no problem.

my question relating to security here is

1. when we have the cpanel pw and we have to enter trough the cpael only to go to myphpadmin and the databases, why there is still the need to encrypt pw. if anybody hack and enter there, even if the pw is encrypted they will know it.

Encrypting the god admin password has nothing to do with your cpanel password unless you have it the same. There are exploits out that will grab the password hashes of users. When they grab these hashes they have to run them through a MD5 hash cracker to try and decrypt the password. This is because by default when you create a new account it encrypts the new password using MD5 encryption. If they grab your MD5 hashes and you have not encrypted your password field then it will appear to them as your plain password. This is the reason why you are encrypting your password field using MD5. Hope this helps you out but it has nothing to do with your cpanel.

thnx database.
