Installation [nCo Mod] - Installation Questions and Discussion

Upgrading from nCo modified nuke 7.5 to 7.6

What would be the best way to do this and is it possible ?....i'm running nCo modified 7.5 now...
Also what if i wanted to just upgrade to a different version of nuke without causing any damage to my downloads and database in general.Can this be done ? How is it done in general ?
How do ppl running an older version of nuke upgrade to a higher version without damaging the database.
Thanking you in advance.

Upgrading from nCo Modified PHP-Nuke 7.5 to nCo Modified PHP-Nuke 7.6 is not possible. nCo 7.6 is a w hole new breed of what we are trying to do. We removed many of the stock modules and replaced them with NSN versions of the same modules. For 2 reasons.
1. They are generally smaller and better written and
2. They are more secure.

You can upgrade nCo 7.5 to PHP-Nuke 7.6 but it isn't recommended by a novice. You would simply have to follow the patching directions for nCo 7.5 upload the nuke after making the nedded edits and deletion and run the upgrader from 7.5 to 7.6

Admin Note: We will not support you if you attempt to upgrade and something goes wrong. Upgrading has not been tested and therefore we do not know of any pitfalls you might face.

yea nuke code is kinda right u cant upgrade nCo modified 7.5 dat easily as u can do in the simple nuke.... i did tried to upgrade nCo modified 7.5 to nCo modified 7.6 and was kinda successfull in it but not really..... dis 1 is for nuke code yeah... about the downfall i am had woz dat my sentinel woznt working right wen ever i clicked on EDIT ADMIN it banned me off my site but the banned woznt permanent as soon as i refreshed the site sentinel unbanned me. den i just destalled the sentinel and reinstalled it the problem woz gone

One thing I am right not kinda right, I am right. But we are working on something that should make upgrading a bit easier. If I intended for there to be a direct upgrade I would have put intructions for an upgrade in the 7.6 distribution.

One thing you failed to realize is that although allot of the modules are the same like sentinel and NSN_News etc they are newest possible versions with each subsequent version of nCo Nuke therefore it isn't just upload and go. For the brave at heart you can try and upgrade using the included installers, but I still don't know how successful that would be, as I said we have not tested upgrading from one version to another.

Note: we are looking into upgraders for future versions.

See each version of nCo Modified PHP-Nuke is different from the previous version in many ways. Which is why we make them for NEW installs only. As we test things in the planning stages we decide what stays from previous versions and what goes. Take note the who is where mod was dropped as of 7.5 and in all likely hood won't return in future versions. 7.4 only included 3 themes if I recall right. 7.6 has 5 themes. Minor I know but just an small point of the changes that go from one version to another. Yeah I know it doesn't look like there is much uniformity there, but what we are striving for is security and ease of use for newbies. Newbies won't be upgrading, they will be starting fresh. Another point dropped from nCo 7.6 was the stock downloads module and it was replaced with the NSN GR Downloads Module, because we got allot of emails from people asking for this addon to be included. Therefore this this explanation I am not kinda right I am right.

Anyway!

Now to fix your problem.
Open your language/lang-english.php file and add the following:
Code: :
Added to update 1-03-04

// Begin CZUser Info block V2.0
define("_CZ_MOSTONLINE","Most Ever Online");
define("_CZ_MOSTMEMBERS","Members:");
define("_CZ_MOSTVISITORS","Guests:");
define("_CZ_MOSTONLINETOTAL","Total:");
define("_CZ_MEM","Membership");
define("_CZ_UMBREG", " Register Here ");
define("_CZ_UMBLOST", " Lost Password ");
define("_CZ_WELCOME", " Welcome, ");
define("_CZ_GUEST", " Welcome, Guest");
define("_CZ_PRIVMSG", "Private Message(s)");
define("_CZ_UNREAD", " Unread: ");
define("_CZ_READ", " Read: ");
define("_CZ_MEMBERS", " Member Info:");
define("_CZ_ON", " Online Info:");
define("_CZ_LATEST", " Latest User: ");
define("_CZ_TODAY", " New Today: ");
define("_CZ_YESTERDAY", " New Yesterday: ");
define("_CZ_OVERALL", " Total Members: ");
define("_CZ_VISITORS1", " Total Online: ");
define("_CZ_VISITORS2", " Guest(s) Online: ");
define("_CZ_VMEMBERS", " User(s) Online: ");
define("_CZ_TOTAL", " Total Online: ");
define("_CZ_ONLINE", " Online List: ");
define("_CZ_SECURITYCODE","Security Code: ");
define("_CZ_TYPESECCODE","Type Security Code Here: ");
define("_CZ_PASSWORD","Password: ");
define("_CZ_NICKNAME","Nickname: ");
// End CZUser Info block V2.0

That should fix it.

Remember we do what we do to help people not argue with you. But if we say something like (NO UPGRADES or FOR NEW INSTALLS ONLY) it's because we researched it, and we are not talking out of our asses. If it was simple to upgrade from one version of nCo Modified PHP-Nuke to another we would have simply told people what to do. Lastly we do all this in our own time for the love of the community.

Well i think i have seen This post Many time But why peopels ask every time for upgrade .. If u try to read this http://nukecode.com/modules.php?name=Downloads u can in clear words only new install ... and in read me file also it says only new install Exclamation [B] no offense and again a big thanx to nuke code
