Archiving PM's ?
Hi All,
Does anyone know if there is a module or addon available that will allow my users to save or archive the personal messages in thier inboxes for later reference(it doesn't take long to fill that bugger up). If so...where can I get it and if not....this would be a great one for all the coders to think about working on.

No there is not any such thing at this time, that I know of. Part of the reason for this may have to do with the fact that there is a SQL Database involved and most hosts put limits on the sizes of these databases 50 megs is the norm. Not really allot in the big sceame of things

That is exactly why I'm inquiring about this tool, since like you said....most hosts put that 50 meg limit on the inbox. The user should have some way of archiving the PM's that are in his/her inbox off onto thier own hard drive to recoup the space without losing all the messages. The only way to do this now is through cut/paste procedures which is tedious and time consuming.

One option would be too increase the size of your users personal message storage, depending on your site that is a viable option. But no there is no port made at this time which will allow your users to save thier messages locally. One reason I can think of is this could be easily breached and used against the site by hackers aas it would have to access the database directly and if you notice there isn't much in nuke that allows users to access the database. Im thinking and I don't know this for sure but my best guess is this is part of the reason the webmail mod was removed from nuke. Remember these are all my theories and not the gospel.
All that being said I am looking into it out of morbid curiousity.
