Sentinel Question
I have a freshly installed 7.6 Ultra with the latest Sentinel package.
I logged out of my admin page. and then entered mysite.com/admin.php in my browser. It pulled up a cached page where I could still see the administration interface.
When trying to click to administer a module I got the Sentinel message that I was blocked from the site and en email was sent to me.
I figured this was good and that it was working, but all I had to do was go back and try again and it promted for my admin login and password.
Should I have been banned? Or does it know that it is really me?
When you logged out of your admin panel that basically ended that session for you. Even though you had the page cached you session cookie ended. With sentinel if you are logged into your admin panel and have a browser that has tab browsing and close the tab you can just go back to yoursite.com/admin.php without signing back in since you didnt log out. Your browser will still have that session cookie in the cache. As far as being blocked and forwarded that has to do with your blocker setting that you configured when you installed you sentinel. For you last question the answer is
NO sentinel doesnt know that is you it is only doing what it was designed to do. I myself have been locked out of sites running sentinel and that was while trying to login to the God account. So just be careful and dont lock yourself out of your own site.
Ok, looks like I have my blocker settings to just email me, not block.
Is there anyway to whitelist my IP?
How do I fix it if I get locked out? Do I just login from a different computer and clear my IP out of the blocked list?
BTW: Everyone here has been a great help getting my site running. All I have to do is install a gallery and import my old forum posts and I'll be pretty satisfied with the nCo package!
Yes there is a way to whitelist your ip. Click on the nukesentinel icon then look for Protected Range Menu then click on Add Protected Range. You will need to put in your range if you are on static ip and it doesnt change then put in from this is just an example 53.25.231.250 to 53.25.231.250 if you are on dynamic and your first two range value's will not change meaning you will always pull a 53.25.xxx.xxx ip then protect 53.25.0.0 to 53.25.255.255. This is assuming you are on a broadband connection you cant do this on dialup since they pull the first available ip. Drop down the country that you are in and then click save. This is also assuming that you are using the newest available version of sentinel which is 2.4.2. To answer your second question if you should get banned login to your cpanel go to phpmyadmin then your database. Look for the table nsnst_blocked_ips browse in that look for your ip click on it then delete. You will now be able to log back into your admin panel. In my opinion I would not whitelist any ip's I would let sentinel do its job. If you get banned then you can easily unban yourself.
